Warm Welly footprints – a step in the right direction for school fundraising

 We have launched a new school donation initiative to celebrate our coming of age. The aim is to fuel school fundraising efforts and at the same time, ensure pupils have warm toes all year round. The Warm Welly Company based in Cumbria, began designing and selling neoprene lined wellies for children in 2007.  Taking into account the farming market and the growing number of children at forest schools and in outdoor education, Simon felt there was a real opportunity to supply warm wellies designed specifically for little ones. And so, The Warm Welly Company was born.

Bespoke codes have given schools a discount for years

 From the earliest years, and with a long term goal of enabling as many children as possible to enjoy warm and cosy feet when playing and learning outdoors, Simon connected with Forest Schools across the UK.  He provides schools with bespoke discount codes so parents can benefit from a 10% discount across the warm welly range.   Commenting on his school connections, Simon said “As farmers, we wholeheartedly embrace the philosophy of encouraging and inspiring young people through positive outdoor experiences.  Outdoor play is something we appreciate and are keen to encourage. That’s why we have a long history with schools that have an innovative outdoor educational approach to play and learning.”

Fundraising reward to mark 18 years in business

This year, as part of the celebrations to mark our 18th year in business, we aim to leave a bigger footprint when it comes to school fundraising. Launching a reward system, we will be donating 10% of children’s school welly sales back to their school.*

Simon said “There are so many ways that PTA’s raise funds, and we often get requests for raffle prizes but we want to make sure we can support the majority of schools who engage with us. The more often the school or parents use the code, the greater the donation back to the school. And as children’s feet continue to grow into their teens, they are likely to need multiple pairs of wellies in their school lifetime. It’s just a simple small step we can take to leave a welly footprint on much needed fundraising.”

How does the reward system work? 

When the discount code is used, an alert keeps a tally on the orders received using the school code. If 10+ orders are received from the school/ parents, funds are set aside to make  a 10% donation based on the value of children’s wellies bought and at the start of each new September school year, The Warm Welly Company will make a donation back to the school for future activities. Simon said “As parents we remember only too well how much school fundraising is done by schools, parents and Parent Teacher Associations. That’s why this year we are introducing a thank you donation to boost participating schools’ resources. “It may only be a small amount for every pair sold, but it is an easy way for even the tiniest of schools to benefit as well as their pupils. Every little helps, so making sure parents know about the 10% discount they receive on wellies, means a bigger opportunity to boost school fundraising funds too.” 

Wellies in schools from north to south

“From Inverness to Cornwall, we have nurseries and outdoor education groups choosing Warm Wellies because they do exactly what they say - they are warm wellies.
