How to keep the kids entertained and educated - Part 1

Well here’s a challenge. There are some very difficult times in the long weeks ahead so we wanted to keep you inspired with ideas of how to keep the kids entertained and educated too. We’ve included links here and we will be writing lots of ideas on our blog which we’ll share on our Face Book page.

GET OUT IN THE FRESH AIR IF YOU CAN

If you are lucky and can get out to the countryside, there are no end of walks and places to explore without bumping into people. From our competition earlier this year, we know your top 5 favourite destinations are:

  1. Cornwall & Devon coast
  2. Love the Lake District (of course!)
  3. Woodland Walks
  4. Being on the beach (see ideas below)
  5. Canals and rivers

Walk on the beach: Burn off energy and gather things for later..

Kids in the sea

  • Make a heart out of stones and take a picture for Mum
  • Collect stones for painting at home when you can’t get outside
  • Pick up shells – use them to make a memory game
  • Collect treasure and store it in your welly box

IF YOU ARE STUCK INDOORS

We’ve been reading various articles to come up with ideas to help – so, if CV19 means you are stuck indoors….

Some great resource links here:

Green Parent – Lockdown life savers – lots of ideas for things to do as a family

Good Housekeeping – always good for the family – here are 50 great DIY kids activities

Listen with Mum – Audible stories: We love this link to stories – and it was free at the time of writing: Audible stories – for kids of all ages

Stay connected - another idea we think will be good to develop over time:

Get a pen friend - write a letter and post it to someone you love – it’s what we used to do – and it’s good for writing skills
