10 super-fun, easy-to-do warm wellie upcycling projects 

We’ve included step-by-step instructions that kids can join in on. Always supervise kids with scissors, drills, or paints, and use.

1. Mini Planter Boots

Materials: Old wellies, soil, seeds or small plants, drill. 

Steps: 
  •  Drill 2–3 drainage holes in the sole. 
  •  Fill with soil, then plant flowers, herbs, or succulents. 
  •  Place in a row or hang from hooks. Arrange in a row by the doorstep or hang them from a fence using sturdy hooks. 
Bonus: Use mismatched wellies for a quirky garden display. 

 Kids can: Paint and decorate the boots before planting.

2. Fairy Garden Wellies 

Materials: Small wellies, moss, pebbles, tiny figurines. 

Steps

  • Fill boots with moss and add tiny figurines, miniature furniture, or small stones.
  • Place in a garden corner. Kids can: Arrange the fairy setup and add little decorations.

3. Boot Umbrella or Toy Holder 

Materials: Old wellies, optional fabric, or ribbon. 

Steps

  • Clean the boots. 
  • Place them upright near a doorway to store umbrellas, art supplies, or toys inside.
