Neoprene

Neoprene is a man-made material which has excellent insulating properties. It will retain the heat from the foot even in the coldest conditions.

The most common use for neoprene is wetsuits. Neoprene traps the water between the wetsuit and the wearers skin and the body heat warms the water against the skin, which works to reduce the heat loss from the body. The neoprene lining in our kids wellies works in exactly the same way; if they fill their boots with water, it warms up! No more cold feet!

Neoprene has the following qualities which make it an ideal lining for kids wellies:-

- waterproof
- abrasion-resistant
- stretchable
- excellent insulating properties
- retains heat

The abrasion-resistant property means that, even when worn without socks, the wellies are unlikely to rub; they are very comfortable to wear; as are adult neoprene lined wellies.

The wellies remain waterproof even if the rubber outside is torn; providing the neoprene lining is still in tact.
